Art in Richmond
Richard Fisher was born in 1953 in the historic market town of Richmond, North Yorkshire. He spent most of his school years living in the nearby village of Middleton Tyas where his father was employed as an estate worker and his mother as secretary to the local land owner.

His interest in metalwork began at an early age - beginning with the obligatory wrought iron table lamp, made whilst attending the senior school at Richmond.

He moved to Darlington, with his family, during his latter teenage years. It was there that he went to the local College to study for an apprenticeship. He went on to become a plant fitter, working mainly on heavy construction equipment.

In 2005 he returned to his home town of Richmond where he now lives with his wife, who works at the recently renovated Richmond Station. Richard Fisher has two sons and three grandchildren.

Throughout his adult life Richard Fisher has been involved in working creatively with metal, be it ornamental or functional.

His creation of musical figures stems from his interest in playing guitar in bands during the 80's and enjoying live music.
